Slow Fashion
What does it mean?
The term "slow fashion" (originally coined by author, design activist & professor, Kate Fletcher) is defined as quality-based rather than time-based.
The fashion industry mass produces cheap new designs that trickle down to big box stores at an alarmingly fast rate. These days, clothes and accessories are designed to fall out of style or trend, and in many cases fall apart, before the next new thing comes along. Ultimately, these pieces flood second hand shops, but due to the sheer volume, eventually end up in the landfill.
The Slow Fashion movement is in direct opposition to this idea, choosing to instead, gravitate towards (and invest in) thoughtful & well-constructed pieces that are made to last.
The pieces that I create are made carefully by hand on a small scale, one at a time. My hope is that they become something that you find yourself reaching for over and over again, while remaining timeless and classic.
